Mount Ascensione is a peak rising to an altitude of 1,110 meters within the Marche sub-Apennines, located entirely in the province of Ascoli Piceno. It stands between the valleys of the Tronto and the Tesino, a river that originates just to the north, near Force. Mount Ascensione has a jagged profile that evokes various shapes: depending on the vantage point, it can resemble Sleeping Beauty or the profile of Cecco d'Ascoli, a heretic and adversary of Dante Alighieri. The views from the east-northeast and west-southwest are perfect mirror images of each other.
