Wandering through the streets of Ripatransone’s town center, one discovers an example of the many treasures the city has to offer: Italy’s narrowest alley. Located in the Roflano district, it is so small that it does not even have a name. A tourist sign next to the alley proclaims its record-breaking status.
In terms of measurements, the alley is 43 cm wide at the shoulder height of an average man, narrowing to 38 cm further up; it meets all the criteria to be classified as an "alley": it is paved, passable, and features at least one door or window (in this case, a window is present).
Many other Italian towns have attempted to rival the dimensions of the Ripatransone alley but have failed to do so, and as a result, it has earned a place in the Guinness World Records.
Those who manage to pass through can even request a certificate from the local tourist office, a document commemorating a feat that is as simple as it is unusual.
