The Church of San Niccolò is a subsidiary church in Ripatransone. It belongs to the Diocese of San Benedetto del Tronto-Ripatransone-Montalto and dates back to the 13th century.
In a signed document dated 1291, Bishop Filippo III of Fermo mentions an early religious building that had existed on the site since the late 13th or early 14th century. In 1571, Pope Pius V, who had elevated the city to the status of an episcopal see, suppressed the parish of Santa Maria della Valle and merged it with that of San Niccolò (originally based at the parish church of the same name). In 1605, the building was transferred to the local *Compagnia di Monte Antico*. At the turn of the 20th century, the "Church of the Valley" (Santa Maria della Valle) also adopted the name San Niccolò, having become the seat of the parish of that name. The church was rebuilt in the late 19th century, though construction was not fully completed until 1903–1904 with the addition of the façade and the renovation of the interior. The bell tower was built nearly twenty years later, following the end of World War I. In the second half of the 20th century, the building underwent further conservation and restoration work.
