War memorial

War memorial

It is located in Piazza Donna Bianca de Tharolis and depicts the Angel of Victory, a work by Ermanno Natali.
The monument consists of a large, multi-tiered base and a tall, square-sectioned pillar topped by a bronze statue of a winged Victory. Each side of the pillar features a plaque listing the names of the fallen from World War I and World War II, adorned with bas-reliefs of faces set amidst floral friezes. About halfway up the column, each side displays a bas-relief featuring floral motifs, a soldier's helmet, and a royal crown; above this, another bas-relief on each side depicts a five-pointed star within a laurel wreath. The bronze statue stands on a marble pedestal. A marble slab commemorating the fallen of World War II lies on the ground in front of the base. The entire monument is situated within a green area enclosed by small metal posts supporting a long chain. A World War I cannon is positioned to the side of the monument.
At the foot of the monument stands a Czechoslovak-made cannon, a piece of captured enemy ordnance from World War I.
